Apex Cycling Bag

The Apex expanding cycling bag is an all-in-one solution for the cyclist on the go. The bag expands and contracts according to the user's contents.

Bike commuters living in metropolitan areas have a diverse schedule. Existing bags offer limited flexibility in space and scenarios. Many of them are uncomfortable or impossible to bike with.

Reflective Ribbon
Reflective Ribbon With Flash
The body of the bag is made of a reflective, tightly woven polyester. This silver and grey fabric uses glass bead technology to offer a little extra reflection for added safety at night.

 In addition to the main compartment, the bag features three pockets of various sizes that unfold to reveal their corresponding zipper opening.

The exterior pockets are secured with magnetic fidlock buckles. The bag is equipped with a retroreflective ribbon that illuminates when exposed to light to keep cyclists safe at night. The exterior of the bag is a reflective polyester fabric and lined with a soft micro ripstop.

The foldable concept offers the largest difference in expansion from the open state to the closed state.

The first 3D mockups were constructed with craft paper and masking tape to refine the shape of the bag.

The Mockup was cut and transferred into a pattern. A Muslin was sewn to check the pattern dimensions and hardware.
